I teach piano, guitar, songwriting, theory, and musicianship — from a brand-new student finding their way around the keys to a serious musician who wants to write, arrange, and actually understand what they're hearing. Every lesson is built around the student in front of me, not a method book's idea of one. I studied Music Theory and Composition at the College of Charleston, and I've spent two decades on stages and in studios, and have taught hundreds of students along the way.
I teach AP Calculus by day and hold a degree in pure mathematics, and I tutor privately across the whole range: Math 1 through Calculus, plus SAT, ACT, and AP prep. I'm the teacher for the kid who has decided they're "just not a math person"- I've watched that belief dissolve many times, it just takes a willingness to speak and listen to the student in their language. Whether your student is trying to survive the semester or get out ahead of it, I'll meet them where they are.

I have taught in classical, private, public, and individual settings for over 20 years. I specialize in identifying and adapating to each student's style, needs, and particularities to make conceptual material not only easy but enjoyable. Music and Math are two languages that I am fluent in, and I know how to help students learn to speak these languages naturally. Music is a language of joy - even working through the most difficult passages of a Chopin nocturne can be light work once you understand the theoretical underpinning. Math is a notoriously frustrating subject for many people - but it doesn't need to be. I love to watch a student's view of math transform from an "impossible" struggling to an enriching, meaningful fascination.
